How a RAK, Radom Act of Kindness comes to be… By Van McNeil.

It was New Year’s Eve and after a full day of fun on the radio and hosting / announcing a big Milwaukee Wave Professional Soccer Team victory; the celebration was on! So much so I had to order a car at the end of the night to take me home.

Got to talking with driver Michelle and she told me that she drove those that are battling cancer to / from their appointments at City of Hope right over the border in Illinois.

Of course I tell her about our amazing organization; what we do and why. We arrive at my destination and exchange info. Website; phone, etc.

4 months later, I get a text from driver Michelle…
‘Hi there! I hope you're doing well! I was wondering about the This Time Tomorrow application process. There's a gentleman that's a patient at City of Hope who's battling his second round of cancer and he does missionary work every year in Poland. He's currently trying to raise money to be able to go. He lives in Louisville, KY so I'm not sure if he would qualify. Any advice on the process is appreciated!’

Of course, I tell her to nominate him; send her a link to our website and she does. Tommy Langham is his name and even during his cancer battle; he still looks to serve community, give back and do good.

Tommy says, “I have to do what God calls me to do, regardless of the fears or the in my case of the Cancer. It has not stopped me yet. At the bare minimum PRAY!”

A couple more months go by…
Then on Wednesday, June 17 our very own Jim Rinelli and Dorene Michaels drove to Zion, IL and surprised Mr. Langham with the RAK.

Welcome Tommy Langham to the RAK family. Tommy is battling his second round of stage 4 colon cancer.

Jim and Dorene say, “He was very grateful and will be using this money to help fund his mission trip to Poland to teach children art.”

I’m not sure what to say without being cliché, but it feels bigger picture to me; being put in the right place at the right time; meeting the right people… I believe this this was one of those cases.

The cherry on top? This final text from driver Michelle…

‘Thank you for being my Lyft passenger six months ago that turned into an even more blessed day yesterday. Also, thank you to the organization for choosing Tommy. Truly couldn't have picked a better person to award the RAK to! Have a good night!’

Thank you for doing what you do Michelle! and Tommy; you keep fighting the good fight sir! 🙏❤️🥹
