With rising air temperatures, this also leads to warmer waters. Anytime water temperatures reach the high 70s and beyond, it creates significantly more stress on muskies and can impact successful release. We urge you to use caution when choosing to be out fishing during times like these.

If you do choose to muskie fish during these conditions, please take extra precautions:
🌡️Try to avoid the heat of the day when water temperatures are at their peak.
💧Keep muskies in the water and avoid removing them from the net.
🐟 Unhook fish as quickly as possible and simply lower the net for a proper release.
📸 If a photo is taken, please keep it as quick as possible. A quick in-water photo or a photo with the fish partially supported in the net is preferred during these warmer conditions. The goal is to minimize the amount of time a muskie is out of the water.
🪝Pinching hook barbs down or using barbless hooks can make hook removal faster and easier.
🥵 Avoid overworking fish during the battle—get them to the net as quickly as possible. Exhausting a muskie adds unnecessary stress and can reduce its chances of survival.
