Hi folks,

A long time ago I was working on a cattle ranch out of Tasajara, Ca. That’s between Danville and Pleasanton in Contra Costa County. The family owned and rented other ranches around that area also. One of them was in Clayton. Clayton is a little town near Concord (probably not so small anymore). Not far from their ranch in Clayton, where I also worked, was a little bar called the Clayton Club. I started doing some gigs there.

I really loved playing there and the people were great! When people would request songs from me, I’d try my best to learn them if I had the time, and if they were ones that would fit my style. Anyway, a couple, Debbie and Leroy, would come in a lot to listen to me play. One day, Debbie asked if I could learn this song that Merle Haggard wrote. She was such a sweet lady that I was gonna learn that song for her no matter what.

Well, I tell you what, nobody had to twist my tail to get it learned! I’d never heard it before, and I loved it! It became one of my favorite country songs to sing! I hope that you enjoy it.
