IMPORTANT UPDATES COMING…

An ancient tradition of the Catholic Church holds that the church building itself should be a representation of the “Truth, Goodness, and Beauty” (the “Three Trancendentals”) of God.

The architecture, the furnishings, the art, and the very ambiance should both represent the Kingdom of God and draw us into the great meeting of Heaven and earth that is at the heart of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

For this reason, Catholic churches over the centuries have been rich in symbols of the things of heaven: rich floral patterns carved in stone, jeweled stained glass windows, noble materials, marble altars,
Symbols of the Saints and more.

I say this because in the coming days and weeks you will see some movement and very small changes in our church sanctuary.

With the savings we have acquired (Thanks to your continued generosity) we are making structural changes that will make our worship space not only something beautiful but a jewel of our city .

In a nutshell, then, the goal of the small renovation we will be undertaking is to provide a worship space that speaks of God’s glory and inspires a person to a sense of holiness and reverence from the moment one walks in.

WHY?

Ultimately, to lead to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. That relationship, then, leads to a greater commitment to Christian service and being a disciple, day in and day out.

Perhaps for some these changes are unnecessary others might only see it as a waste of resources.
The only thing I ask is that allow me the opportunity to make our spiritual home a place that can bring us closer to Heaven.

ACTUALIZACIONES IMPORTANTES…

Una antigua tradición de la Iglesia sostiene que el edificio de la iglesia en sí mismo debe ser una representación de la «Verdad, la Bondad y la Belleza» (los «tres trascendentales») de Dios.

La arquitectura, el arte y el ambiente mismo deben representar el Reino de Dios y, al mismo tiempo, atraernos hacia ese gran encuentro entre el Cielo y la tierra que constituye el corazón de la Santa Misa.

Por esta razón, a lo largo de los siglos, las iglesias católicas han estado llenas de símbolos de las realidades celestiales: ricos motivos florales tallados en piedra, vitrales adornados, materiales nobles, altares de mármol,
símbolos de los santos y mucho más.

Digo esto porque, en los próximos días y semanas, verán cierto movimiento y algunos cambios menores en el santuario de nuestra iglesia.

Gracias a los ahorros que hemos acumulado (gracias a su continua generosidad), estamos realizando cambios estructurales que convertirán nuestro espacio de culto no solo en algo hermoso, sino en una verdadera joya de nuestra ciudad.

En resumen, el objetivo de esta pequeña renovación que emprenderemos es ofrecer un espacio de culto que proclame la gloria de Dios e inspire en la persona un sentido de santidad y reverencia desde el mismo momento en que entra.

¿POR QUÉ?

En última instancia, para conducir a una relación más profunda con Jesucristo y su Iglesia. Esa relación, a su vez, conduce a un mayor compromiso con el servicio cristiano y con la vida de discípulo, día tras día.

Around 70 children (not counting the teens) have registered in our Totus Tuus summer program.
The donation asked of each family is to cover the cost of the program and the meals the children will receive this week.

WE NEED DONATIONS!
However, we are in need of DONATIONS OF SNACKS. If you are able and willing to help us you may drop your donations of snacks in the parish office or bring it this weekend when you come to church.

This weekend we will be welcoming these 8 young missionaries. They will be in our parish all next week leading the Totus Tuus Children Summer program.
These Missionaries are college students that have decided to give up their summer vacation to do this missionary work. Please help me feel them welcome.

P.S. around 70 children signed up to attend this years children summer program.

Este fin de semana daremos la bienvenida a estos 8 misioneros. Ellos estarán en nuestra Parroquia toda la siguiente semana dirigiendo el programa de verano Totus Tuus.
Estos misioneros son estudiantes universitarios que han sacrificado sus vacaciones de verano para hacer este trabajo apostólico.
Les invito a que me ayuden a que se sientan en casa.

P.S. al rededor de 70 niños se inscribieron este año en el programa de verano.

A DAY OF FUN FOR OUR ALTAR SERVERS!!

Watch an altar server during Mass. They are often young. They process in carrying the cross or the candles. They stand near the altar, move when the rubrics require, kneel at the consecration. They ring the bells.

To some, it might look like a set of tasks a child can be trained to do. And in one sense, it is. But something deeper is happening.

These young people are learning the Mass from the inside. Not by reading about liturgy in a book, but by moving through it. By standing close enough to see the priest's hands over the bread and wine. By hearing the Eucharistic Prayer not from the pew but from the sanctuary. By ringing the bells at the moment Christ becomes present on the altar.

The liturgy shapes them from the inside out.

You can tell children that the Eucharist is sacred. But when they stand at the altar, when they kneel on the hard floor during the Eucharistic Prayer, when they handle the cruets and see the priest's reverence up close, they begin to know it in a different way.

Altar serving teaches reverence by doing. It teaches responsibility: show up on time, vest properly, know your role. It teaches humility: you are there to serve, not to be seen.

These are virtues that shape a life. And they are learned not in a classroom but in the sanctuary, week after week, through the rhythm of the liturgy.

It was time for our altar servers to have some fun this hot summer. Thank you my dear Altar Servers for your willingness to serve Jesus at the Holy Mass.

¡UN DÍA DE DIVERSIÓN PARA NUESTROS MONAGUILLOS!

Observa a un monaguillo durante la Misa. A menudo son jóvenes. Entran en procesión portando la cruz o los cirios. Permanecen cerca del altar, se desplazan cuando las rúbricas lo indican y se arrodillan durante la consagración. Tocan las campanillas.

Para algunos, esto puede parecer simplemente una serie de tareas para las que se puede capacitar a un niño. Y, en cierto sentido, lo es. Pero está ocurriendo algo más profundo.

Estos jóvenes están aprendiendo la Misa desde dentro. No leyendo sobre liturgia en un libro, sino participando activamente en ella. Al estar lo suficientemente cerca para ver las manos del sacerdote sobre el pan y el vino. Al escuchar la Plegaria Eucarística no desde el banco, sino desde el presbiterio. Al tocar las campanillas en el momento en que Cristo se hace presente en el altar.

La liturgia los forma desde el interior.

Se les puede decir a los niños que la Eucaristía es sagrada. Pero cuando están junto al altar, cuando se arrodillan en el suelo duro durante la Plegaria Eucarística, cuando manipulan las vinajeras y observan de cerca la reverencia del sacerdote, empiezan a comprenderlo de una manera distinta.

El servicio en el altar enseña la reverencia a través de la acción. Enseña responsabilidad: llegar a tiempo, revestirse adecuadamente y conocer el propio papel. Enseña humildad: uno está allí para servir, no para ser visto.

Son virtudes que moldean una vida. Y no se aprenden en un aula, sino en el santuario, semana tras semana, a través del ritmo de la liturgia.

Había llegado el momento de que nuestros monaguillos se divirtieran un poco en este verano. Gracias, queridos monaguillos, por su disposición a servir a Jesús en la Santa Misa.
