2026 Bios Chicken batch #2 will be processed in just over two weeks. With the amount of stress these birds have lived through (Something about a flood and a laundry room floor… If you know, you know🤪), and now the high heat, we’re very happy with how they’re growing out! You can reserve Whole Chickens from this batch right now! They’ll be available starting August 10th.
Batch #3 are growing like weeds! They’re to the point where their feed consumption is growing exponentially. These birds will go to the processor in almost exactly one month. Preorders for them will be opening soon!
As of yesterday, batch #3 of Bios Chickens for the 2026 season is officially pastured! Baby Bios and the Wannabe Farm Dog even came along to move birds.👶🏻🐶
This is by far our largest bird batch to date. You might notice that this is a new chicken tractor they’re in. We just purchased two new (to us) chicken tractors this weekend (they’re a HUGE upgrade from our old ones), and we wanted to get these birds out of the enclosed brooder and out to pasture where there’s more air flow before the crazy triple-digit temps this week. We’ll split them up in the next few days so they aren’t in such tight quarters, but this was the best arrangement for them for the time being.

We stopped into Sunny Creek Trading Post on our way through Ponca City this morning! Their Saturday hours make it super convenient to shop quality local food and personal care products—and they have a fantastic selection of produce right now! 🧅🌶️🥬🧄🍅🥔🥒
We’ve made some great friends in the other vendors who fill the selves at some of our retail partners’ stores, and it’s neat to see to see Bios Chicken in the freezer right next to pork from our friends at The Humble Hive Homestead and right down the aisle from products from Hillside Apothecary and Larsen Family Farm .🤍
The ear tags on our beef animals hold a lot of helpful information. Michael Anne once described them to a kid as a name tag for the cows, and that’s true in that each animal is assigned a number that’s listed on their tag. Numbering each animal helps us to identify them quickly in the herd and to maintain herd health and breeding records.
In our operation (and lots of other operations), the tag location adds information as well. Heifer calves receive a tag in their left ear, and bull calves are tagged in their right ear. It’s an easy way to differentiate the gender of the animal from a distance throughout their lifespan.

Bios Beef babies are looking great!
We’ve been a little surprised to see the color variety out of the bull we used last year. That bull was half black angus, half red angus. Although he himself was black, he definitely passed on some of the red genes!

Reservations for our next batch of corn- and soy-free Bios Chickens are open!
For now, these reservations are for Whole Chickens only.
Raising this batch of birds has been a rollercoaster to say the least, so pickup day is somewhat tentative, but we know they will be ready in mid August!
