The Wing Syndicate

Sad to report that CK's Tavern & Grill has once again changed ownership, not sure if there's any coming back this time.

Rebranded as "Headliners," they've slapped a fresh coat of black paint on the bar, logo'd up the back splash, and changed a few specials, most notably the wings are actually discounted on Wednesdays. I honestly don't remember if CK's had breakfast, but Headliners now touts a full breakfast menu along with the old menu (still using the CK's branded 2 page) with a Build Your Own Bloody Mary bar on Sundays.

During our visit, the bartender really couldn't be bothered to answer any questions after our initial order, even though there were only 2 other patrons at the bar, 2 playing pool, and 2 outside smoking some rank-ass ci**rs at 11 AM, total of 6 for you using common core.

I ordered the wings, she, the Breakfast Nachos, the latter was a large enough portion to feed 4, until we discovered that the $1 up-charge for chorizo (by the way, no prices on the menu, at all) only applied to the top layer of chips as well as the cheese, beans, and other offerings. Basically anything below the top layer were just dry-assed, hot, (mostly burnt) chips. Also, who throws egg encapsulated chorizo on nachos? Definitely a weird combination, bartender of the year could have explained the menu just a touch...

Wings: 0 brine or seasoning on the protein, and although I asked for them to be grilled, those marks had to be for show only. The wings, as well as the veg, tasted old and had that "freezer" smell to them. Sauce was still great, but definitely couldn't cover up the train wreck abuse of the protein.

The most egregious offense, in my mind anyway, was that the shift manager sat at the end of the bar and was ripping a strawberry scented do**he flute for the entirety of our visit. For those who haven't heard that term, it's what I call a v**e pen. Love that he puffed it right before he slapped our $50 tab on the bar and stalked off without a word.

As always, go formulate your own opinion, maybe he'll play you a concerto of slightly abused watermelon during your visit.
