Camp Journey Chelsea Day 1 is in the books!

Our campers jumped right into exploring mental wellness, situational awareness, when to call 9-1-1, and saw a real investigator dust for fingerprints!

We kicked off team building challenges where they are learning the 3-Cs of Teamwork:
Cooperate
Collaborate
Communicate

A special thank you to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and their SRO’s for leading todays’s teams and helping campers build confidence, leadership skills, and new friendships!

We can’t wait to see what Day 2 brings!

Aww man it's already over? Camp Journey Oak Mountain Day 4 was a blast!

From Special guests James Spann and Shelby County District Judge Elect Ben Fuller along with ADA's Jodie Tallie and Sydney Nester, to a mock trial, today was something special!

We discussed internet safety, played some 9 Square, then heard James Spann encourage us to find our passion, work harder than everyone else, and serve others! Then it was time to try the case of the infamous trophy thief!

These rising 6th graders have what it takes to rock it next year!

Who-hoo! Camp Journey Oak Mountain Day 2!

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office provided the fur and we provided the smiles as Onyx and Jaq from the K-9 unit taught us how dogs have incredible senses of smell and can be trained in different ways to assist our first responders.

We learned what it takes to be a person of character and got an inside look at the Shelby County Drone Unit!
(who might have caught a glimpse of the infamous “trophy thief”.)

Add in some 9Square, a few team building challenges, and top it off with Alabama Fish and Wildlife sharing their role on our community. That’s one full day!

Day 2 has us wondering what on earth Day 3 might bring? Stay tuned!
