If you're a homebuyer serious about accomplishing your goal and getting to the closing table, this post is for you. Get ready to take notes, or better yet, just SAVE it for later.

First, let me start off by saying EVERYTHING leads to something. Good habits bring GOOD results...And BAD habits get you nowhere fast.

So, let's choose to focus on the good here! But when it comes to your homeownership goals, I want you to think MORE strategically, beyond good, to SMART!

1. Take a long hard look at your spending and make a list of all the EXTRAS. Write down EVERYTHING from those Macchiato Lattes to the boxes of NON-GMO, Organic, Vegan chocolate chip cookies...And then tally it ALL up. The initial total may not look like much, but if you multiply it by weeks and months, you might be surprised to see how much you're spending on things you don't need.

2. Get those credit card balances paid off or substantially reduced. You can do this by checking into what cards have the highest interest rates. Attack those first, and then get to work on the others.

3. Shift It Up! Here's where you can save BIG. Instead of going shopping for fun, consider going hiking or for a walk in nature. (In addition to helping your budget, you'll also be helping your waistline.) And, rather than going to a pricey restaurant, what about packing a healthy picnic lunch? Also, in lieu of some of those high-ticket items and products you may love, look for lower-cost alternatives. You would be SHOCKED at how much money you can save simply by shifting things up.
