I have to pass along this sad news of our dear friend Marion has passed away.

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear friend Marion Seidel, the devoted caregiver for DJEMF’s Billy Jones, who left us on July 5.

Marion came to DJEMF through her work and friendship with Dad, helping him care for the herd in Florida. After his passing in 2012, Marion immediately stepped up and helped us through the process of relocating the herd to California.

As many of you know, Marion and Billy had a deep, special bond. When the rest of the herd came to Santa Barbara, we knew it would be in Billy’s best interest for him to remain in Florida with Marion loving and caring for him. She took Billy’s welfare seriously, and we always knew he was getting the best care possible.

We have decided that Billy will remain in Florida on the ranch where Marion cared for him, with a longtime pasture mate to whom he is bonded. DJEMF will continue to support Billy’s care and provide for his needs.

Our hearts go out to Marion’s daughter, sister, and all of her extended family and friends in the US and Germany. Our community had lost a true friend.
