🎉 Happy 25th Anniversary to the 6th Graduating Class of BYTT, May 16th1998.
It is hard to believe that 25 Years ago today we graduated from Bikram Yoga Teacher Training. It was pretty dramatic in 1998 to quit my successful shoe career to go to Teacher training.. Since most of you will never meet my teacher, it is hard to describe how powerful his teaching and presence were, and how he said some revolutionary things that impacted our lives forever.

My teacher had his headquarters a few miles down the road from me in LA, and I started practicing regularly in 1996 and realized we all possess the power to try to reduce pain and improve the function of our body and lives through this yoga. Regular practice immediately reduced my limp and helped me put off a hip replacement for 15 years while leading a very productive and happy life!

My teacher training started in Feb 1998 and was only the 6th one with only 38 trainees that created life long friendships. (including my roommate and forever friend, Lynn Whitlow) and many teachers still active in our community today.

Our community has also had a reckoning with our teachers behavior, and the variety of ways our studios and teachers feel about him. For me, I broke ties with him many years ago and changed the name of our studio in 2016. I also created OHYA (Original Hot YOga Association to move our community forward. I look forward to teaching for years to come. In deepest gratitude to my HYP community that allows us to continue our mission to: Help people create full body health & feel amazing through our powerful and healing, yoga and pilates classes.

Even during the last 2 years, I found a way to budget in some new jeans and tops that make me happy. Why shouldn’t I put on jeans and mascara to go grocery shopping?🤷🏻‍♀️
