Oakland Farm Trees

Hazelnuts at the edge. Of a canopy, streambank, fenceline. Fall hikes on the farm showcase real-life scenarios where the plants we grow at the nursery are living and working in the ecosystem. Hazelnut (Corylus americana) here were planted 15 years ago as part of a native buffer around Kennedy Creek as it runs through the farm. Spreading at their base, Hazelnut helps hold the soil and filter groundwater. Bushy structure and tasty nuts make for great habitat too 🦌🦃🐿
