In the woodlands above the historic French port of La Ciotat, traffic is sparse. The GT S is engineered to be sporting, a car aimed at drivers. ​

We’re close to the glamour of the French Riviera, where Bentleys fit right in. But when the coast starts to feel crowded and slow-moving, this exhilarating drive inland provides a palate cleanser.​

​The GT S borrows the full dynamics package from the Speed model. The four-wheel drive system has an electronically controlled rear differential, working in concert with active roll control and four-wheel steering. To back up the lithe cornering, Bentley’s High Performance Hybrid powertrain leans into the V8 twin-turbo engine. A sports exhaust thrills the senses.

This evening the Continental GT S will return to the coastal hotspots. Its elegant design will attract gazes. But right now there’s no-one to look, and that too is just fine.​
