As the American Cancer Society celebrates its 100th birthday, we can't help but recognize that the progress we've made in the past century would not have been possible without our more than 3 million volunteers who work relentlessly to help save more lives from cancer.

This week, National Volunteer Week, we want to personally thank you for all you've done to help bring hope to those touched by cancer.

It is the collective power of friends and volunteers like you working together that keeps that hope alive and growing – through acts such as leading groundbreaking fundraising events in communities nationwide, providing free lodging to cancer patients in treatment, and working with lawmakers to make cancer a national and local legislative priority. And it is your support that enables us to offer information, day-to-day help, and emotional support to people facing cancer and their loved ones 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

One hundred years ago, the American Cancer Society began the fight of a lifetime – the fight to end cancer. And thanks to the support of people like you, we've made great progress, from discovering lifesaving cancer breakthroughs to helping improve the quality of life for people facing cancer.
