Cioffi Architect

Designed by Cioffi Architect, the Palm Springs Animal Shelter reflects the modernist architecture the city is known for. A broad cantilevered roof creates deep shade, while slender steel columns and horizontal louvers filter light and reduce heat—hallmarks of climate-responsive design.

Textured panels, warm desert-toned materials, and layered façades add depth, while native plants like cacti and desert grasses integrate the building into its surroundings. The result of this project is a thoughtful civic space that blends modernist design with the mission of caring for the community’s animals.

A brise soleil was an addition to the Azure Sky Hotel by Cioffi Architect and has informed design elements of the rest of the hotel. This feature not only adds privacy for hotel guests, it adds visual interest while allowing air and light to pass through. The design shifts based on perspective.
