Celebration of Life for Robert Fitzhugh “Bobby” “Toad” Millican
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Bobby’s Life on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Putnam County Shrine Club, 116 Yelvington Road, East Palatka, Florida. To assist with planning, the family welcomes an indication of attendance - please text or leave a voicemail with Jerry Millican at 386-627-4454. Feel free to share this post with Toad's friends.
Together, we will honor and remember Bobby on a weekend that also marks what would have been his 70th birthday – a meaningful time to share stories, laughter, and the love he leaves in all our hearts. In true celebration of Bobby’s life, smoked barbecue pork and all the trimmings will be served – some of his favorite foods – along with birthday cake for dessert. His favorites were pound cake and carrot cake. Bobby also loved music and dancing; a DJ will be playing 70’s music.
On February 7, 2026, we said goodbye – for now – to Robert Fitzhugh “Bobby” “Toad” Millican, a God-loving, generous, and deeply loved man whose presence brought joy to so many. Born on May 29, 1956, Palatka, Florida, Bobby lived a life full of faith, laughter, kindness, and love for his family, friends, and community. Bobby had a heart for people and a deep desire to help others receive what they had worked for and deserved. He loved his hometown and believed in showing up for his community in meaningful ways. Through his involvement with the Rotary Club of Palatka Sunrise, Key Club International, the Chamber of Commerce, Palatka Elks Lodge #1232, the Azalea Festival Committee, and the Palatka Yacht Club. Bobby shared his time, energy, and generous spirit with countless people.
After graduating from the University of Florida in 1981, Bobby stepped into the family business, Millican Insurance Agency, founded by his father, F.R. (Hugh) Millican. He worked hard to grow the agency, expanding it from a personal lines business into a full-service multiline agency. For more than 68 years, Millican Insurance Agency was part of the history and heart of Palatka, and Bobby was respected not only for his professionalism, but for the honesty, integrity, and care he brought to every person he served. Giving back was simply a part of who he was.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Fitzhugh Rowell Millican and Thelma DeLoach Millican, and by his baby brother, John Christopher Millican. He leaves behind so many who loved him dearly, including his devoted wife, Deborah Millican; his stepsons, Ryan (Kylie) Glynn and Tyler Glynn; his beloved grandson, Ryder, commonly known as “Little Man”; and his treasured granddaughter, Emery.
He is survived by his cherished siblings: Francine Millican, Jerry Millican (Beverly), Nancy McKinney (Ray), and Lynn Henry Weddington (Tim).
As we remember Bobby, we celebrate a man who loved God, loved people, and brought warmth and laughter everywhere he went. He never met a stranger, and his smile, humor, and kind heart made others feel instantly at ease. He will be fondly remembered for the joy he brought into every room.
