These roses and irises, actually the entire bed, had been neglected for years. This is year three for me working with this mess. (One year it took a full eight hours to properly prune them!) If this bed was mine, from day one I’d’ve found a new home for all the roses and irises - there’s PLENTY of room elsewhere - and designed something spectacular.

There’re five types of ground cover… only one of which is wanted, and that’s this year’s focus. These shrubs want to thrive so I’m giving the now nutrient-rich soil back to them, and ONE ground cover.

We shall see…
