perfct imperfect

Well, this is taking longer than expected…

We welcomed our gorgeous, fun-loving, delightful little Elle into our great, big world on March 13th. Before her arrival, I had every intention of getting back to writing as quickly as possible. I imagined myself with baby in one arm, laptop in the other, working at all hours of night and day. I think that I thought I’d win some kind of grand award or presidential-level accolades for having achieved the near-impossible task of getting a substantial amount of good work completed with a newborn by my side.

But shortly after she got here, I let that all go.

This baby break, I’m letting my heart go soft with baby snuggles and many-too-many bedtime books with Teddy. I’m embracing the luxuries of letting this pregnancy weight come off a little more slowly and wearing PJs way too late into the day. I’m falling deeply in love with giving more of myself to my family and allowing my family – and me – to give more grace to myself.
And, now that I’m getting reacquainted with what a full night’s sleep feels like, I’m also getting ready to come back to work, to writing, to you.
