Rob's Rescue
09/13/2022
In keeping with my brief notes from the other rescue work we do, beyond fostering, we just learned of a mom and kitten that were tossed from a car in a Delaware neighborhood. Luckily I have cat rescue helpers in the area and they've responded. Hoping to generate funds to offset their medical costs, with the most immediate being the kitten's leg injury. Emergency vet costs are tremendously high but kitten is safe and sound and friendly to boot. Mom is more skittish but both will be followed up with spay and neuter and shelter services asap. Grateful to my Delaware friends for taking care of them and hope we can generate the donations they need. I'll update here between the usual community cat and foster care demands. If you want to help, please send any donations to Paypal via my rescue ([email protected]) or send gift cards to the same email address. We especially can use Chewy or Amazon or Petsmart. We have a Chewy rescue account and wish list for those who want to utilize that. Any money we aren't spending on food and supplies can be used for other needs like medical treatment; however the coffers are always in need. Thanks again for those who always jump in to help and I hope abundance will find many more in order to make donating an option for everybody. Much love from the trenches! I promise to update on Ayla and Huck later tonight or tomorrow.
Ayla and Huck are adjusting to Tucker and Teddy's departure, but Huck still cries now and then and Ayla has become even more watchful over him. While she still sacrifices her own play time for Huck's -- backing off when he dives for the toy and allowing him to make the "kill' -- she's more and more engaged with the play time, even teasing Huckleberry now and again. Here's tonights video wherein she is determined to copy her kittens by conquering the cactus -- never mind that it's only 20 inches tall and built for kittens. Even Huck looks big climbing the cactus! In truth, he's still kitten size but is growing like a w**d. He's extra long and his legs are especially so. Must be all the jumping.
I hope Ayla and Huck connect with their forever guardians soon; either together or independently. Maybe you're looking for an energetic and acrobatic kitten who is also an expert snuggle bunny, or a deserving young mom who's recapturing her own kittenhood now that her maternal demands have diminished. If not you, please consider asking the people you know, and ask them to ask the people they know -- these two deserve the very best. Please help me find that for them.
The boys have really grown and their personalities are even more pronounced, with the perfect amounts of action packed adventurousness and snuggly cuddly affection.
Teddy and Tucker have been blessed to find a forever home together, having bonded with their adopters on the very first visit. Huck was surprisingly shy, given his acrobatic and adventurous nature, but I trust the universe and its design, especially given how connected Teddy and Tucker have been. Huck is a bit of a momma's boy, so it's possible he and mom could find a forever home together. Ayla remains the ever watchful mom, but her kitten desires show through more and more.
In this video, Huck dominates as usual, but Ayla gets in a few good whacks at the toy, even while restraining herself to sacrifice the hunting skills to her boys. I often catch her wrestling with them, but only when she thinks I'm not present. I believe she defaults to mother mode whenever humans are present, but then lets herself go when she feels she's unwatched or otherwise alone with her crew. Huck and Ayla will be entertaining potential adopters the next couple days, so if you or anyone you know is interested in providing a loving forever home for either of them or both, please contact me at [email protected]
