Golden Hour Beauty

One of the triplets is seen here preening in the evening sun. As it's head lowered the feathers took on a rusty orange hue, cast from the setting sun, all while perched on the steel wheel of an old lumber wagon.
Moments like these are a photographers dream. That fleeting moment when the light, scene, and distance align perfectly.

Eager to Learn

Those of you that have come out for boat tours will appreciate this photo more than anyone.
It appears that "base camp" for juvenile bald eagle training will take place on the Hiawatha Island staircase this season. I have been watching as all three of them gather on the steps and wait for one of the adults to arrive. Mary has been showing up for them most of today and has brought fish to them to enjoy from the classroom. This photo means so much to me!
