Did You Know Youth Can Learn CPR?
At Fight For Every Heartbeat CPR, part of our mission is helping our community understand that lifesaving skills can start early.
According to guidance commonly used in CPR education programs such as those based on American Heart Association (AHA) training standards, there is no strict age requirement to begin learning CPR. What matters most is whether the student can understand the instructions and physically perform the skills.
Young people who are able to follow directions and participate in hands-on practice can begin learning important emergency response skills such as:
• Recognizing when someone needs help
• Calling 911 and activating emergency response
• Hands-only CPR techniques
• AED awareness and how it helps save lives
While some training centers may set their own age limits, the most important factor is a child’s ability to cognitively understand and physically practice the techniques.
Teaching youth these skills helps create safer homes, schools, and communities. You never know when knowing what to do in an emergency could make a difference.
Fight For Every Heartbeat CPR will begin offering training opportunities soon. Our goal is to empower individuals, families, and young people with the knowledge that could one day help save a life.
