In observance of the Independence Day holiday, the Police Department and City Hall will be closed on Friday July 3rd, 2026.

Police officers will be on duty. If you need assistance, call our non-emergency number at (785) 665-7230 or 911 in an emergency.

Beginning July 1st, a new Kansas law goes into effect making it a violation to use a cell phone in school zones and construction zones. Distracted driving is a leading cause of accidents. Please help keep children safe and put the phone down.

*****UPDATE***** Due to weather, this has been postponed until a later date TBA.

On Saturday July 4th, the Overbrook Police Department will shut down the intersection of 5th and Cedar from 8:00 AM-9:00 AM for the Overbrook Community 5k & 1 Mile. Please utilize alternate travel routes during this time.

Come out to the Touch-a-Truck organized by Overbrook Parks & Recreation event this Thursday, July 2nd at 3:00 PM in the gravel lot at the Overbrook Attendance Center. There will be police cars, fire trucks, utility vehicles and other fun vehicles for kids to explore!

Fireworks may be set off in the City of Overbrook from July 1st-July 5th between 10:30 AM and 10:30 PM. EXCEPT on July 4th, when fireworks may be set off until midnight. Outside of these hours, setting off fireworks is a violation of the City's fireworks ordinance.

"Section 7-102 shall not apply to the firing or discharge of fireworks in the city between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. on July 1st through July 5th, EXCEPT on July 4, when fireworks may be discharged from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 midnight. It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge, fire off or explode any squib, rocket, firecrackers or Roman candle, or other combustible fireworks within the City of Overbrook from and after July Fifth (5th) and prior to July First (1st) of each calendar year. A request to discharge outside of this window must be made to the Overbrook City Council prior to the event and must be approved before the event takes place. Furthermore, it shall be unlawful to discharge the heretofore-described fireworks in any business district in the City of Overbrook at any time."
