“This Is My Favorite Animal I’ve Seen Today!”

While presenting different animals to elementary students, we asked them at the end of our presentation what their favorite animal that they had seen that day was. Many of them said it was our snake, Abby the red-tailed boa! Our group had many excited students ready to pet the snake and ask questions about it. Some of them found it funny that it was our first time meeting Abby as well....

“How does this thing poop”

Holding a red-tailed boa was something that I thought would be very scary, but it really wasn't that bad(Especially holding it for over an hour)! The kids were very interested and a little nervous because the snake was so big, which made it fun to teach them about the snake. This all showed the kids that animals are not as scary once you get to learn about them. It also made me realize how important it is for everyone to learn about animals instead of being afraid of them.

“South America!!!!”

My partner and I were teaching the Lordes students about Big Dude the Red-Footed Tortoise. My job was to inform the students about what they ate and where they live. I asked them where they lived, and a female student yelled, "South America" with excitement getting the answer on her first guess. The other students were really happy to be able to learn and pet Big Dude during our show and tell event.
