Asia leads 9-1. I see a lot of players and fans ridiculing the event, the teams, captain, and of course Matchroom Pool. C’mon. It’s a bit overboard. is an exhibition event. The players get showcased on global TV, they earn bonuses from their own sponsors , they get to play with fellow world class pros and the privilege to play against other world class players. Oh, and they get all expenses covered flight, hotel , and $20,000 if they win EACH. Oh, and $10,000 if they LOSE. That’s EACH player. No entry fee. No strings attached.
The sponsors get global recognition and marketing. The fans get great entertainment watching the same pros they would pay to watch individually anyway. Living legends & Bustamante get honored while they’re still alive!
So the score is lopsided. Oh well. Nobody can predict when things go like this. Even if Asia did have an edge. At the end of the day , the Reyes Cup absolutely does no harm to the sport of Pool. And in fact , only helps it.

Matchroom is the best chance for pool to get to the next levels. Players including myself over 25 years ago have always said that. And now it’s happening. Pros you never would have heard of are now household names in pool. Everyone should get behind that.
Are they a perfect company? Of course not. What promoter is? Have you seen the mistakes others make? Wow lol.
Don’t worry, Matchroom will keep perfecting their product.

And when people point out other promoters and organizations also growing their events bigger , that’s fantastic for the players and the fans. But make no mistake , the timing is not coincidental.

If Team Asia wins by a landslide, it just makes it all the more sweeter when ROW wins eventually in the future.

By the way , I was on the USA Team that demolished a Team Europe full of Champions 12-1 at the Mosconi Cup in London. Pool survived and so did European Pool (unfortunately 😂)
