Experts suggest keeping the heat above 55 degrees when you’re away, and opening the cabinet doors beneath your sinks. Personally, I turn my heat to 62 when I leave. The room might be 62, but the heat doesn’t pe*****te the walls to keep the pipes at 62. Better to spend a few more dollars on heating costs to avoid frozen pipes!

Please do not turn your heat down and then leave for the holidays! The temperature in the cabinets and walls is much lower and results in frozen/ broken pipes and significant floods. Keep heat around 60-65 degrees and open sink cabinet doors. Plumbers are always busy on the holidays due to many broken pipes/floods.
