Bringing in the new year!

It is January 1, 2026. There are many voices stating that this is the year of forward movement, both for individuals and communities. We have spent the past few years watching things change and push us into a new world. Determining whether or not we are up to the challenge - and figuring out what exactly the challenge is! - will be a choice we will continue to make each day.

One thing will always be true:

The first 18 months of your life are processed by the amygdala, and it’s all based on felt sense. There is merely a growing neocortex, not developed. It isn’t until you are 2-3 years old are that you are capable of conscious declarative memory. That, my neighbors, is a lot of body processing and storing. It also says nothing about the layers of life that pile on top of that.

If you’re having trouble changing habits, breaking patterns, or feeling content, it makes sense. It’s ok. You aren’t alone. This is just a reminder that it doesn’t have to stay that way. Perfection will never be the result, we aren’t robots. But changing to a sense of content - that is possible.

Fall is coming!

Summer is in the final stretch, and we are gearing up in our house for a round of schedule changes and new activities. With a new season comes with the reminder to take care of yourself - pain or relaxation!
