Stewardship Council

The Shasta Crayfish may not be the cuddliest of creatures, but it has a role to play and is now endangered due to habitat loss and competition from invasive signal crayfish. Spring Rivers Foundation Outdoor Education is focused on protecting the remaining population and we were able to fund a habitat restoration project that created a safe place for Shasta Crayfish to regrow their population. Youth Investments

California is a biodiversity hotspot with an unusually high concentration of endemic plants but has lost over 70% of its primary vegetation. A biodiversity hotspot contains irreplaceable areas to the plants and animals that live there. The Stewardship Council included Habitat for Fish, Wildlife, and Plants as one of the beneficial public values to be protected on all the properties we placed conservation easements and conservation covenants on.
