Traditional Achilles’ tendon debridement is one option for insertional Achilles tendonitis… however it has a long recovery and often results in good but sometimes unpredictable results with residual bursal swelling, Achilles thickening, and soreness.
Alternatively the Zadek dorsal closing wedge osteotomy is a good alternative to this. Can be done , has a shorter recovery, and does not violate the Achilles. Originally described in 1936 and has ample recent data showing good results.
Combining minimally invasive surgery with the .life screws allows patients to get back to life sooner. Ortholucent screws that have excellent strength and allow for improved osteotomy visualization… gotta love it!
