John 10:11-18 After revealing Himself to be the Door to the sheepfold, Jesus went one step further, identifying Himself also as the Good Shepherd, contrasting with the selfish desires of the hireling who will run from the wolf that seeks to eat of the flock. Instead, the Good Shepherd will lay down His life for the sheep - yet another warning of Jesus' eventual sacrifice for the sins of the world. But Jesus reveals His power in that while He will lay His life down for the sheep, He will also take His life back up again, revealing that as the Shepherd, Jesus will never let down those who have been added to His flock - even those who are not of His original flock.
