The new UCI Health rehabilitation hospital will expand critical care services for patients recovering from trauma, stroke, burn, brain and spinal cord injury throughout Orange County when it opens this summer. It will nearly quadruple the academic health system’s capacity to help these patients improve their quality of life and make the transition home.
“We will offer top-line, post-acute rehabilitation care right here in Orange County, serving our six acute care hospitals,” says Dr. Jay Han, medical director of the 52-bed UCI Health — Irvine Rehabilitation Hospital. “We will become the premier center for the region, the destination for people in need of state-of-the-art rehabilitative care.”

Six burn survivors and their loved ones recently attended an art workshop organized by the UCI Health Regional Burn Center to aid their healing journey through art. Led by Seattle-based burn survivor and artist Grace Flott, participants learned about her own healing journey and how she embraced her scars through art.
“The workshop demonstrates out team’s commitment to care for our patients holistically through discharge and beyond,” said Dr. Syed Saquib, medical director of the UCI Health Regional Burn Center.
