Sorting through the piles of journals and devotionals that I’ve accumulated and making intentional effort in embracing my morning routine.
2018 was one of my hardest years mental health wise, I hadn’t slept a sound night in 2 solid years when my 3rd baby came in 2016 & I was left in a deep fog and post partum depression was heavy. I tried to deny it away and yet things just got worse inside. I became a bully to myself- everything I did and thought I’d respond with “ugh, I suck” until that’s all I felt and thought of myself.
In 2019 I was blessed through a series of books and a business training call that literally rocked my world and I KNEW I had to make some changes. I was already working out at home & eating healthy- but mental health wise 🤦🏽♀️ it was bad. So what I had learned through those books and call were things I already knew- having a morning routine would support me in being more successful BUT what I hadn’t realized was how much it would SERVE me and heal my hurt inside.
During that same season we left a church and a group I had served alongside and fellowshipped with since I was in HS, making a shift in obedience to the Lord only to feel the deep deep pain of church hurt wasn’t anything I had ever prepared for or even considered was a thing 🤦🏽♀️ but here I was on the other side of it and in the depths of hurt and loneliness.
God used these books & that call and the morning routine I developed from them to not only serve me in my business, my home, but also in improving my mental health, my healing and my relationship with Him. And for ALL that I’m so grateful.
God is so freaking GOOD!
In late 2021 we moved and in 2022 I struggled to find my routine on a regular basis. I’d pick it up here and there, but it wasn’t like before. I was also in a new season of embracing rest and sleep and restoring my body- but I missed that routine. Many times have come where I’m feeling ready and excited to pick it up again only to leave it again- but here I am, determined to be intentional about prioritizing it!
