Why is meditation important?

There is such an a b u n d a n c e of reasons to meditate; it is an enjoyable process + holds sooo many health benefits for your mind, body + spirit!

Having consistent practice (daily, if possible, even five minutes) can help you increase self-awareness, which will also support awareness of your environment. People can do it for free, anywhere + anytime, to develop beneficial habits + feelings, including a more positive mood + outlook on life.

Here are some of the top reasons meditation is so important:

Decrease blood pressure
Reduce stress + promote stress management
Ease anxiety + support emotional/mental health
Create healthy sleep patterns + improve the quality of sleep
Develop more patience, kindness + compassion with self + others
A happier lifestyle with internal balance, grounding + relationship with yourself

You can’t heal the body without first healing the mind + meditation is something everyone can do to improve their mental + emotional health. Once your get into a rhythm with yourself + commit to your health + wellness, you will reap the rewards of doing so.

Breathwork is becoming more mainstream these days, + for a good reason! The powerful effects + benefits are immeasurable. Some ways consistent breathwork practices + mindful breathing can support you include:

Balanced blood pressure
More time in deep sleep
Reduction of PTSD + feelings of trauma
Stronger respiratory function
Better immune system
Release of stress hormones from your body
+ s o m u c h m o r e

There is an abundance of certified facilitators for various techniques to guide + support you, especially as you become introduced to breathwork. Still, so many free resources are available online on youtube, insight timer or other meditation apps.

Here are some simple breath practices that are great to start with:

Box Breathing
4-7-8 Breath
Conscious Circular Breathing (Rebirthing Breathwork)

These are just a fraction of what's available when it comes to breathwork. The first two are practices you can do anywhere, anytime but starting with 5-10 minutes in the morning, before work, or whenever you feel called to ground, focus or meditate is recommended to see long-lasting results in your life.

Meet yourself where you're at, be consistent + watch what happens!

It's imperative to acquire micronutrients in your diet, as deficiencies can have devastating consequences. You need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight, but that's not the only element to consider. There's more that people don't know about that’s making it challenging to lose weight if you're ONLY focusing on the calorie deficit.

As you focus on all these areas of your life, you'll find it easier to reach your goals physically + in every other place that matters.

Addressing the following issues is essential, either through education or with support from a coach, trainer or other holistic practitioners. It's helpful to get you started with support to learn where YOU'RE at, as we're all unique + have different needs.

Here are the top three things I've noticed affecting (lack of) weight loss during a calorie deficit:

Your body is experiencing severe hormonal imbalance
You've only been maintaining at sub ~1400 calories per day
Putting yourself in a calorie deficit when food is only seen as a reward or punishment

Now, the areas to work on if you're going to lose weight (+ enjoy overall health) for the long term include:

Stress management
Sleep management
Hormone balancing

+ A strong focus on developing a healthy relationship with yourself + to your food.

This needs to be on point; otherwise, being in a deficit won't work.
