Reports that young children in Minnesota were taken into immigration custody are heartbreaking and underscore the urgent need for policies that protect family unity and children’s wellbeing. As pediatricians, we know children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and loved. Actions that expose kids to trauma undermine their healthy development.
