Meet Assata! She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health at UNO, with the goal of becoming a dietitian.

Assata is also a former Upward Bound student and has proudly worked with our program for the past three summers.

In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar and bass, listening to and making music, and reading comic books.

We’re so thankful to have her on our team! 💚

✨ A Message to My UBMS Family ✨

I wanted to share that I will be stepping away from the Upward Bound Math & Science Program after serving since 2018, most recently as Assistant Director.

This program has truly shaped me both personally and professionally. From watching students grow into confident young leaders, to partnering with families and community members who believe in the power of education. UBMS has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Every summer, every Saturday Academy, every challenge and every celebration has meant more to me than I can put into words.

To my students past and present thank you for trusting me, challenging me, laughing with me, and letting me be part of your journey. Watching you grow has been the highlight of my career. And please know: I’m still cheering for you, always. 💚

Our Summer Academy was a success! 🎉

We kicked things off with a fun-filled day at Smash Park LaVista and kept the momentum going all summer long. Students explored exciting courses in video game design, science and engineering, and film and video, while also sharpening their test-taking skills with ACT prep through our partnership with 3MT.

We teamed up with NMC for career exploration, took part in meaningful community service projects, and made memories during our Friday field trips.

From learning to laughter, this summer had it all—and we’re so proud of everything our students accomplished!
