πŸ’¦β˜€οΈ **Too Hot Outside? Cool Off with Water Play While Building Important Skills!** β˜€οΈπŸ’¦

Hot summer days don't have to mean staying inside! Water play is a fantastic way to beat the heat while encouraging speech, language, sensory, and motor development.

Here are some fun ideas to try:

πŸ—£οΈ **Speech Therapy Fun**
πŸ’§ Practice requesting: "More water, please!" or "My turn!"
🌈 Talk about colors, sizes, and actions while filling and pouring cups.
πŸ¦† Hide floating toys and practice following directions like "Find the blue duck under the bucket!"
πŸ”’ Count water balloons, bubbles, or scoops together.
πŸ“– Create silly stories about sea creatures or pretend you're exploring the ocean.

βœ‹ **Occupational Therapy Fun**
πŸ’¦ Fill and pour using cups, pitchers, watering cans, or measuring spoons to strengthen hand skills.
🎯 Spray targets with sq**rt bottles to improve hand strength, coordination, and visual motor skills.
🫧 Chase and pop bubbles to work on balance, coordination, and visual tracking.
🧽 Wash bikes, outdoor toys, or the family car to build upper body strength while having fun.
πŸƒ Create a water obstacle course with sprinklers, buckets, and pool noodles to encourage gross motor skills and body awareness.

The best part? Your child is having so much fun they won't even realize they're practicing valuable therapy skills!

At **Blue Door Pediatric Therapy**, we love helping families find playful ways to build skills all summer long. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and enjoy making a splash together! πŸ’™πŸŒˆ

What's your child's favorite water activity? Tell us in the comments! πŸ’¦

πŸΎπŸ’™ **Meet Hattie!** πŸ’™πŸΎ

Have you met one of our cutest team members yet?

We're excited to (re)introduce **Hattie**, Ms. Melissa's sweet pup and **therapy dog in training**! 🐢✨

When Hattie is at the clinic, you might spot her:
πŸ’€ Taking a cozy nap between all her important "work"
🎾 Playing and practicing her manners
🀝 Helping during select therapy sessions as she continues her training

As Hattie grows in her role, she's learning how to provide comfort, encouragement, and plenty of tail wags to the children she meets. Every visit is another opportunity for her to build the skills she'll need to become a wonderful therapy dog.

If you see Hattie around the clinic, be sure to say helloβ€”but remember, she's still learning! We appreciate everyone helping us support her training by always asking before approaching or petting her.

We can't wait for you to watch Hattie grow alongside our amazing Blue Door families! πŸ’™πŸΎ

🌈 **At Blue Door Pediatric Therapy, every week is a new adventure!** πŸ’™

One of the things that makes therapy at Blue Door so special is that there is never just one way to learn. We believe children make the most progress when they're engaged, having fun, and doing activities that match their interests.

That's why our **Rainbow Summer Clinic** features a new theme each week! From gardening and the beach to camping, bugs, baseball, and so much more, our therapists incorporate creative, play-based activities into speech and occupational therapy sessions.

🎨 Whether we're:
🐞 Exploring bugs,
⚾ Playing baseball,
πŸ•οΈ Pretending to camp,
🌊 Digging into beach fun,
🌻 Planting a garden,
πŸŽ† Or celebrating holidays with sensory-friendly activities...
..every game, craft, obstacle course, and imaginative adventure is designed with a purpose. We're building communication, motor skills, sensory regulation, social skills, problem-solving, and confidenceβ€”all while kids are having a blast!

Because therapy doesn't have to look like sitting at a table. It can look like play, laughter, movement, creativity, and meaningful connections.

We can't wait to see what adventure comes next! πŸŒˆπŸ’™
