Tonight’s harvest moon

Chadron will always hold a special place in my heart..

The first time I visited was a complete accident. I was driving to toadstool geological park and got stuck in a complete downpour rain.

Since toadstool was going to be flooded and I was bored of sitting at the Walmart in Chadron, I started driving South towards the hills and eventually came up on a sign for Chadron State Park. After finding a parking trailhead and a break in the rain I was able to make some quick dinner and check out the trail. The weather was still gloomy, the visibility was low and the trail was a muddy mess to navigate. About a mile into the trail I noticed the hills starting to glow from the sun and suddenly the lower cloud deck broke and unleashed an incredible burst of color.

The first image in this carousel is the photo I took from that experience and the rest are just a handful of other incredible moments I have had while visiting Chadron.
