, we lift our hearts and voices in celebration of Audra Owens of Omaha, Nebraska : a fearless, fire-tongued poet whose words knew no bounds.
Audra was known for her bold, unflinching, and sensually charged poetry: verses so vivid and honest they made audiences laugh, gasp, and sometimes blush.

Her poems lived at the intersection of truth and liberation, where body and spirit could both be celebrated without apology.
She reminded us that poetry isn’t meant to whisper; it’s meant to speak freely, to stir, to challenge, and to awaken. Through her books, performances, and open-mic presence, Audra carved out sacred space for authenticity and joy, giving others permission to do the same.

She embodied the soul of Verbal Gumbo; Poetry in Motion, The Red Velvet Curtain and The Love Down Below, where flavor, freedom, passion and feeling meet.
