On March 16, 2003, an Israeli bulldozer crushed to death 23-year-old U.S. peace activist Rachel Corrie as she tried to prevent the Israeli army from destroying the home of Dr. Nusrallah in the Gaza Strip. HAPPENING NOW: Hours before Biden hosts the White House Hanukkah party, 18 elder Jewish women have chained themselves to the White House demanding stop funding and arming the genocide in Gaza. 

In the last two months, the Israeli government has killed over 17,700 Palestinians, including at least 7,000 children. That’s one out of every 130 people in Gaza. Another 7,000 people are currently missing beneath the rubble. Meanwhile, all 2.3 million are at risk of starvation, with families dying from the Israeli government’s denial of food, water and fuel.

In Jewish tradition, the number 18, or “chai,” is a symbol of life. It is in that commitment to life, and to Palestinians and all people getting to grow old, that 18 Jewish elders are chaining themselves to the White House.

Bubbies, savtas, tetas, grandmothers and elders say: Never again means never again – for anyone. , stop funding and arming the genocide against Palestinians. We demand a permanent ceasefire NOW!
