Ok just another story when trying to convince clients to purchase travel insurance. This was not my client. I just spoke to a friend I have not talked to for a year. She told me she had a lot going on now helping her sister. They were in cancun and her husband had a heart attack and went to the hospital. No insurance of course. Her sister thought he bought it but had not. Booked trip through Apple she thinks. Her sister called her from the hospital because she needed to have 5000 for the hospital to see him so my friend put it on her card. He ended up coding as soon as they got him to icu and died. They had to cremate him as it was too expensive to bring the body back. They had their daughter and 2 grandchildren with them so they had to buy 4 one way tickets home as they missed the scheduled flights. They have spent $10,000 so far and all of the hospital bills are not in yet. Plus, no one could help with all of the flight changes or anything. I was surprised but she said Apple did nothing to help with the changes. I get needing to pay for everything but you would think they would help make arrangements? But the insurance provider would have done all that and fly the body back. I've heard stories but this is the first personal experience. He was 62 years old.
