There’s a special kind of spark that ignites when you are surrounded by a carefully curated team of incredibly talented humans. Work becomes play, and play becomes magic. There’s a humble ease that fills the spaces between morning stretches and building big art, weaving together memories people will talk about long after the last act closes out the show. There’s laughter coupled in code reds; there’s tears sprinkled between sets. I’m lucky enough to walk this wild path alongside them - time and time again we reunite to do the damn thing and I still can’t find words to describe this feeling. It’s intentional. It’s imperfect. It’s raw and real and inherently human in a way most people never get to touch. It’s chaotic and beautiful in the most surprising of ways - and in these moments, it’s entirely ours.

✨ Moments from the build ✨

It’s rare I get brought on to a team just to paint these days. The massive repaint that was the Aquachobee stage was dropped into my lap last minute + filled my cup to the brim - not only because I was doing what I love, but also because of the legends who helped the vision come full circle. and thank you for being patient and pivotal in getting this over the finish line despite unruly weather and generator mishaps 🤣 and laughing with me the whole way through.

There’s always alot of problem solving coming onto a new site and working through a project you’ve never touched before, so special thanks to .belo and for trusting me to get it done 🖤💫 , it was a damn pleasure.

For many, Mark Rothko’s transcendent abstractions of fields of intermingling colors often conjure semi-religious states and lofty ideas about death and passing on. Looking at them, one might not know that the artist, who was born on this day in 1903, was a political person, with a strict moral and ethical code that guided how his work was presented.

Read about four controversies regarding Rothko’s desire to have his paintings seen in a way that was ethically sound: https://www.artnews.com/feature/mark-rothkos-protests-controversies-1234571770/
