All Smiles

The layers of improbability that bring us to Austin, Texas in 2026, still playing music together, are staggering. I look around at these dudes every night and feel so grateful to be with them. Choking back emotion sometimes when I see Aaron and Jason. All we’ve been through together. Shows fire back up tonight.

Joe Plummer and I have made a lot of music together. We have both been shaped by skateboarding.

In late 2011 I wrote a ton of music very quickly in tribute to skateboarding. I would think of something like Donny Barley’s part in Underachievers, Jason Lee in the Blind video, Stevie Williams and Josh Kalis at Love Park, or Mark Gonzalez’s Ollie at Embarcadero. And make a song based on that feeling. Joe gave them all shape and locomotion.

Inspired by Agent Orange and Skate Visions. But just from memory. And gut. No other references.
