From last April to this April, we wanted to share some ‘Earth Month’ musings and acknowledge the local work in New York State that is beginning to take shape on the ground and behind the scenes with , as they focus on the support and growth of our local New York State fiber ecosystem - from farm, to fiber, mill, processing, to final product. Initiated by Governor Hochul, spearheaded by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, Commissioner Richard Ball, and led by Kathryn Davis, the Natural Fiber Textile Development Workgroup is a collaboration of individuals from all areas of expertise who are passionate about this movement in sustainability, supporting the local supply chain and bringing the natural fiber & textile industry at the forefront in New York State and beyond.
Mimi is honored to be a member of this workgroup. Everyone in the community can and should join in this conversation (our next meeting is in October, and you can join us!). As we work towards implementing the workgroup’s recommendations, community conversation and collaboration are the first steps towards the way forward in rethinking our industries. Always ask questions and share the important story of , in support of the people and planet. 🌱
