Another week of new construction sewer scopes and another week full of issues found and headaches resolved before homebuyers move in. Check this one out! The sewer was no match for the stake (rebar) they guyed the young tree out with!

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted but that’s only because I’ve been so busy doing sewer inspections lately! Here’s a sampler of sewer issues we’ve found on homes in just the last few days!

Old clay pipe will often have tree root issues at the joints in the pipe.

Why would a new construction home need a sewer scope? Because the sewer lines are one of the FIRST THINGS that get installed and there is SO MUCH ACTION happening in and around them until completion months later. They can get filled with construction debris by uncareful contractors, hit by heavy machinery, damaged by driven rebar or concrete stakes, hold water due to improper pitch or settle with poor bedding and much more.

We don’t have to guess if this old cast iron sewer line has had issues because they left the evidence inside. That’s a drain cleaning cable (“snake”) that apparently got snagged and was abandoned inside the drain line.
