The false self is an identity we design to survive without deep trust in God. In this episode, we talk specifically about the religious false self: the old operating system still runs, but now it borrows God language, church culture, and spiritual practices to justify the same patterns.
Join us for our latest podcast as we discuss how to ground our identity in Christ and begin living whole, authentic lives.

In a culture that is marked by polarization, disconnection and loneliness, it’s exciting to see so many people finding deep community at our church. People are leaning in at coffee hour, lingering after service, and building relationships more intentionally with those they serve with. However, it can be easy to miss the opportunities for connection and discipleship when we narrow our focus to what happens in the church building. Sometimes these connections happen in more informal, organic ways.

Crosspoint has sponsored a softball team in the Oconomowoc league for many years now. Although it may seem like little more than a fun summer activity, this team has become a group of guys doing life together. Over the last several years, this team has become an on-ramp for men who want to start building relationships beyond Sunday mornings. Guys make excuses to stay longer after games, to talk, to encourage each other, and to catch up on life. Even guys who get injured still show up to fellowship, even though they can’t play!

The recent passing of Kaleb DeVries hit many people in our church community hard. Kaleb played on our softball team for many years and built deep connections and friendships with the guys. Watching this group come together to grieve, support one another, and love each other has been incredible! It has been a beautiful reminder of how something as simple as a softball diamond can become a holy place if we keep an eye out for what God is doing.

Community doesn’t just happen in formal, serious groups. Often it takes some intentionality. Maybe it means inviting someone over for lunch after service. Maybe you schedule a time to get coffee with someone you’d like to know better. Or maybe you meet up at the park with another family. We encourage you to have your eyes open for the ways you can be a part of creating meaningful moments of connection and community.
