⚖️ Had the opportunity to serve as a guest speaker at the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association's Summer Soiree a few weeks ago.

The event brings together approximately 50 new attorneys and introduces them to the opportunities and benefits of incorporating pro bono work into their practice.

It was great to be part of the conversation and share insights on the value of serving the community through the legal profession.

One of my favorite photos from the evening is with the event's emcee, the Senior Staff Attorney of Pro Bono Engagement for the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association.

Many Florida business owners assume their operating agreement covers incapacity. It usually doesn't.

Here's the difference:

📋 Operating Agreement / Bylaws
Governs internal business decisions — voting, profit sharing, management structure. May or may not address what happens if a member becomes incapacitated.

📋 Durable Power of Attorney (DPOA)
A personal legal document that gives a trusted person authority to act on YOUR behalf — including managing your interest in a business — if you become unable to do so.

Without a DPOA, your spouse or family may not have the legal authority to step in, even if they know how to run the business.

You need both. And they need to work together.
