This starcraft came to us needing a restoration and wanting to be fully protected so this didn't need to happen again. We sanded this beauty down to completely remove all the oxidation permanently then coated it with our System X Ceramic Protection Max on all interior and exterior gelcoat and coated all the seats with interior for that super soft protection and making this easy to clean in the future. We also water proofed the cover so it won't absorb that daily rain we get in FL anymore! 🤜🤛

Today is an informative lesson. The picture on the left is how this boat came to us. The picture on the right is how we let the boat leave. These curly Q marks are called Pigtails and are caused by sanding. Sanding is something we do on a daily basis but it has to be done the right way. Which we will explain later. But first let's explain what causes them.

Common causes of Pigtails

➡️ Hook material on Hook & Loop pads pushing through sanding film
➡️ Excessively worn sanding disks
➡️ Sanding on an angle
➡️ Foreign Material on sanding disk
➡️ Undercured Paint

How to Avoid Pigtails

➡️ Ensure surface is clean
➡️ Clean sanding disk often
➡️ Use Interface pad
➡️ Avoid sanding on an angle
➡️ Use Fresh Sanding disks

We brought this '23 Axis back to life yesterday with our Polish and Coat package! Slight oxidation started to build up on exterior so we removed that, then polished the whole boat inside and out, cleaned the water bags to get the mildew growing on them off, and coated in in our spray ceramic so it has 6 months of protection from the elements!
