Hola mi Gente!

This mid-October is bittersweet for us in San Diego because we are not able to present the 2019 San Diego Cuban Dance Congress. Producing this event is a huge effort and I appreciate everyone from attendees, instructors, performers, musicians, and volunteers to make this event a success.

For 2019 we were not able to secure a new venue in time that can accommodate what we need based on our size requirements and within budget. A few individuals mentioned some hotels to consider, however, these hotels are even more expensive than the Town & Country at around 85k with hotel room rates around $185 per nite. Every year our costs have increased, 2018 SD Congress costs were well over 100k because every vendor increased our costs and we added last-minute Maykel Blanco, which was almost covered with the gracious assistance of a $1000 donation. For you the attendee I was able to negotiate the same low hotel room rate as the previous year. You’re welcome! While our costs were not covered, we had a great event and introduced YOU to the ONE and only Mixael Cabrera! Without our volunteers it would be almost impossible, so I want to thank everyone who volunteered to help with 2018 and the previous years. There are a few key people who gave much of their time and support for the SD Congress and I appreciate you so much!

We are looking to 2020 to see what we can do. We have considered a multi-venue experience, however, logistics and costs make this prohibitive. We are considering the idea to scale down the event, but is this a viable option? We are considering to move the date to Labor Day weekend. Our aim is to provide an immersive one of a kind experience for everyone, which we want to continue this theme. Have a GREAT remaining 2019 and we will keep YOU informed about 2020.
