Greeting from vacation! 2
It’s been a
minute, but I’m spending my time away working through my least loved sketchbook to finally finish it by the end of the year.
Painting is never a chore for me, but experimenting with gouache right now is a serious exercise in patience. It’s incredibly fun and rewarding, but the “ugly stage” lasts so long that I’m currently fighting the urge to throw in the towel!
For those who use gouache-do you find yourself constantly wanting to give up, or do you just keep pushing through to learn something new every day?

Zooming in on the details of this one today. While every artist looks at their work and thinks, “maybe a little less yellow here” or “I should have used masking there,” I’m choosing to lean into the joy of the process. I’m really happy with how this turned out!
