๐ซA New Chapter
2026 will make 10 years since I began my career as an equine massage therapist. After 10 vears of hands-on equine massage, my journey is shifting.
After a lot of reflection, I've made the difficult decision to retire from the hands-on side of equine massage. As most of you know, I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and many comorbidities. My bodv has reached the point where continuing the physical demands of massage is no longer sustainable, so I'll be stepping back from that part of my practice.
This choice wasn't easy. Providing massage for your horses has brought me immense joy, and Iโm incredibly grateful for every partnership and collaboration that has involved me as part of their care team. This decision ensures I can prioritize my long-term health, while still remaining involved with the horses and clients I care deeply about. I'm thankful for everyone who has trusted me with their horses, and I'll still be here to support you in new ways.
While I won't be offering hands-on massage anymore; I'm not disappearing, my practice is evolving. I'II continue to support the equestrian community in ways my body can handle and be an ongoing resource wherever possible.
Thank you for your understanding and support moving forward into this next chapter as Transformative Equine evolves. This is not the end! It is simply the start of a new beginning๐ซ

๐ก114ยฐ Heat Index. 97% Humidity. No Breeze.
๐จ These are fatal conditions for horses and humans alike. These extreme heat days come with no clouds, no breeze, no afternoon rain, no relief. It's imperative to take extra measures to ensure your horse's well-being through these heat waves.
โข
๐จ Even horses who've handled summers in the past can crash under the right (or wrong) set of circumstances.
โข
๐ก If your horse struggles with the heat, finding out why is essential.
Some common but often overlooked causes:
โ ๏ธ Gaps in basic support; hydration, electrolytes, shade, airflow, fresh cool water.
โ ๏ธ Underlying systemic conditions (cushing's, metabolic issues, damaged nervous system).
โ ๏ธ Toxic burden from environmental toxins and heavy metals.
โข
๐ฅ I've seen it firsthand: Two of my mares were poisoned by environmental toxins, and it damaged their ability to thermoregulate. My mini has cushing's and metabolic issues, same outcome --> heat intolerance.
โข
๐ด Supporting your horse in the heat isn't one size fits all.
It takes an individual approach based on your horse's history, workload, age, and environment. Any supplementation and extra modalities should be discussed with your vet prior to beginning them to ensure your horse is a good candidate.
โข
๐ก The slides in this post offer ideas and discussion points to take to your vet so you can build a heat management plan that fits your horse's unique needs.
โข
โ
๏ธ Be proactive.
โ
๏ธ Pay attention to the signs.
โ
๏ธ Don't wait until it's too late.
โข
๐ฟ Your horse's life depends on it.

If you have a horse struggling with thermoregulation issues, acupuncture is a great modality to add to their regimen! Happy to have such an excellent facility & team that I can refer client horses to, in addition to them being able to help provide collaborative care for my personal horses๐
Fun fact- Acupuncture is the modality that got me started on my career path back in 2015 while I was living in Wyoming! The veterinarian who performed acupuncture on my mare Cali, gave her an extra year of a good quality of life that she would not have otherwise had. Seeing how much this modality helped Cali sparked the fire that led me to where I am today๐ซถ
