πŸ”” THE SOUND THAT RULED OUR CHILDHOOD πŸ””
Today I visited Mutumba Primary School and found something that instantly took me back in timeβ€”this old school gong, believed to be more than 50 years old.
To today's generation, it's just a piece of metal.
To us, it was an alarm clock, a referee, a timekeeper, and sometimes... a warning! πŸ˜‚
The moment that gong echoed across the village, everyone knew what it meant. There was no excuse. You could hear it from kilometers away.
If you were still at home, panic would immediately set in. You had only two choices:
πŸƒ Run to school as fast as your legs could carry you...
Or go back inside the house and prepare for a beating only legends can understand this cause paizovirikidzwa hembe zvekudaro. Unfortunately, arriving late at school meant another beating. πŸ˜‚
And if the late Mr. Mangwanya populary known as Swine, the Deputy Head, was on duty... may God have mercy on you! His reputation alone could make pupils sprint before the second strike of the gong.
As painful as those days sometimes were, that little gong taught us lessons many expensive gadgets still struggle to teach today:
⏰ Respect time. πŸ“š Be responsible. πŸ’ͺ Face the consequences of your choices. ❀️ Value education.
Today, schools have electric sirens, smartphones, and digital clocks. But I wonder...
Are we raising children who value time as much as that old gong taught us to?
If this gong ever made you run like an Olympic athlete hameno kwawakadzidza , raise your hand in the comments! πŸ™‹πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚
Tag someone who will never forget this sound! πŸ””β€οΈ

let's hear from the vendors themselves. To them, your dollar is more than just moneyβ€”it can mean a meal on the table, school fees for a child, or hope for another day.Their voices deserve to be heard.Listen to their journeys, their challenges, and their dreams. Many vendors wake up before sunrise, work long hours in the sun or rain, and do everything they can to provide for their families.
