🎧 Livelihoods programs—which increase the economic well-being of people in extreme poverty—are an area that we've supported throughout GiveWell's history. Over the past several months, we've expanded this work, creating a new livelihoods grantmaking team with this focus.

With more dedicated capacity, we're now able to explore livelihoods programs in greater depth—and figure out where this kind of funding can do the most good.

Over the last decade, GiveWell has directed nearly $50 million to programs that deliver iron to people in need, but determining exactly how much these programs improve people's lives is surprisingly difficult.
